Aretha always goes big, which is why we love her. Who else can belt out gospel one minute and the next minute heat up the room with a sexy-ass R&B tune? No wonder she’s the Queen of Soul!
She started out singing in church choirs and then hit the big time. Her comedy chops are pretty good too – if you haven’t seen her dance around the diner in The Blues Brothers you need to remedy that right now! She’s sassy, and she doesn’t care what people think which seems to be a theme with all of our Honorary Fling Girls. She shakes her thing, wears big wigs if she wants to, and she’s earned the right to do as she pleases.
Respect, I Say a Little Prayer, Chain of Fools… what are you waiting for? Go make your playlist!
IN HER OWN WORDS
“Don’t say Aretha is making a comeback, because I’ve never been away!”
“I am a big woman. I need big hair.”
